Faces of CoWork Me: Shai Roitman – Powered Property

After a successful corporate life career, Shai made the decision to start his own business, Powered Property. It’s been amazing to see how Shai and his team have been able to secure global clients in their first few months of business.

A short summary of Powered Property? Why did you start it?
Powered Property provides marketing services to residential and commercial real estate agents to help them generate more buyer and seller leads through digital channels.
We also work with property developers to help them sell “off the plan” and start their projects quicker to unlock their construction finance faster. Additionally, we are busy building our own technology which we will announce shortly.
How many are in your team?
The business launched in May, 2018 and the team has since grown to twelve.
How did you find the transition from a corporate environment to being a business owner?
Coming from a workforce of thousands to single digits was quite an interesting change for me. I’m not able to delegate and I can’t always ask someone for advice, which has meant that I have had to do a lot of problem solving. This has been amazing for my development as I’ve been able to learn new skills.
When we started the business, we had no website, campaign data, clients, staff or revenue and a lot of work went into building these pillars. Almost 12 months later we have been able to create enough momentum to scale the business faster.
What was the moment you thought this idea could turn into something?
It was very early on with a couple of our first clients. The immediate measurable impact we made to their businesses, confirmed to us that we were on to something special. Now, it’s all about scaling that which is exciting.
Do you advertise? How?
We run our own inbound marketing campaigns through social and digital advertising. A key growth strategy for us has been word of mouth and using our business networks. However, our work speaks for itself and we were able to secure a global client before we had a website.
When starting a new business, there are a lot of things that need to be done. Being able to walk into CoWork Me and know that the kitchen is clean, office is clean, utilities are taken care of and the internet works is beneficial for us. It means that we can focus on growing the business and CoWork Me can focus on the rest.
What do you do to unwind?
I’m lucky to have amazing family and friends, so I spend a lost of time with them to unwind. I also listen to music, podcasts and go swimming.
What are you reading at the moment?
I’m currently reading an awesome book for anyone starting a business, called The Sales Acceleration Formula by Mark Roberge.
Who inspires you?
The people I work with and the team I’m building here are inspiring.
What is the hardest thing about being a business owner?
I don’t think of anything as hard; it is all a challenge. However, it is healthy to accept that you don’t know what you don’t know. Stay humble and open minded.
How do you best network?
I have always networked by treating everyone as equals and being genuinely interested in what they do.
This space provides a great networking platform as a lot of people here are in the same boat so we can all support each other.
Biggest tip for someone starting out?
Just do it. Remember to have fun and don’t take yourself too seriously
